‘Tis the Season for Craft Beer

Ugly Christmas sweaters, retro arcade games, 90s music played by a DJ and a lineup of breweries were just a few things the citizens of Hamilton witnessed at this year's Beer Festival. 

In celebration of the holidays, the event was held at the Hamilton Convention Centre on Nov. 25. The venue was transformed with festive spirit, decorated with red and green lights and Christmas-themed inflatable characters.

Visitors were encouraged to participate in the festival’s “Ugly Christmas Sweater” theme to showcase their Christmas spirits. 

The event had an assortment of organizations selling beer at every corner, including Natterjake Brewing, Broken Rail Brewing, and Rainhard Brewing.  

For Megan Willisko, the event was a place to hang out with loved ones and to uphold long-standing traditions. 

“We do this every year as a part of our Christmas celebration and to enjoy the holiday season,” Willisko said. “It's a great way to spend your time with the people around you in the city of Hamilton.”

Willisko recommended that more citizens of Hamilton come to the event to show their support for the local breweries.  

The festival also featured a wide variety of foods, including tacos, barbeque, cupcakes, and empanadas to pair with the beers.

Visitors had to exchange cash for neon green tokens to buy food and drinks. 

The venue provided plenty of seating with large tables, allowing attendees not only to enjoy their food and drinks but also to engage in activities like drawing on the tables and playing board games such as Connect Four and Guess Who?

The entertainment didn't stop there. Attendees could also engage in games like beer pong and visit the arcade, which was filled with retro classics such as Pacman and Space Invaders. 

As the night progressed, the atmosphere transformed, the lights dimmed, and visitors took the chance to dance their hearts out and groove to the sound of 90s hits.
